Anti-Hypertensive Medications: COMBINED ALPHA-BETA BLOCKERS

How they work: Possible Side effects: Special Notes:

As the name suggests, these medications combine the actions of both alpha and beta blockers to reduce nerve impulses to the blood vessels and slow the heart rate. Both actions lower blood pressure.

Call your provider if you experience any of the following:
  • Chest pain
  • Fainting or dizziness
  • Slow, fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Yellow skin or eyes
  • Swelling in feet or ankles
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Unusual weight gain
  • Wheezing or trouble breathing
  • Cold hands or feet
  • Feeling unusual drowsiness or tiredness
  • Feeling depressed
  • Sexual problems
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • This medicine may raise or lower your blood sugar, and it may mask the symptoms of very low blood sugar.
  • This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy.
  • Avoid driving or using dangerous machinery if you are not alert.
